versace

source.
Let's be perfectly real here: Versace couture is typically insanely tacky and difficult to take seriously. The latest show was no exception, with dresses ripped away showing lingerie (great idea, poor execution) and those closure (?) detailing that I just couldn't find to be appealing. I mostly look at the HC Versace collections for laughs, then I move on, since normally nothing really catches my eye.
This time though, three pieces really stood out as something special. These three cropped loose-knit (?) turtlenecks are something so insanely perfect that I wonder where they were before in my life. The first two looks especially, with the matching, mostly-sheer maxi dresses were something remarkable.

I plan on trying to write small reviews of the pieces/collections that I like during this season's couture week (practice for when big weeks happen!). Keep posted.

miu miu

miu miu fall 2006/miu miu fall 2013

Seeing older collections and tying them to newer ones is such a joy. FirstView has a lot of older Prada collections and detail shots; if you have the time, I suggest taking a look. I'll probably do a post about recurring Prada themes in the future. The shoes on the right are for pre-order right now on the Saks website.
The fact that those boots on the left get overlooked for the carved wedges when looking back to that collection is such a shame.
